Netball Club

Bedwell Netball Team has firmly established itself as one of the top sports teams in town over the last few years, winning the Stevenage League three times in the last six years and consistently making the final of the District Cup competition. As well as traditional seven-a-side league and cup competitions, we also take part in mixed High-5 festivals, which see our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams playing a faster, five-a-side version of the game - and last year our Year 3/4 team (pictured below) won the Stevenage Tournament.

Year 5/6 train on Wednesday nights every week with Miss Shaw, while Year 3/4 train on Thursdays with Miss Smith.

  • March
It’s been a brilliant year for both our Girls and Mixed Netball teams, both of whom have maintained their 100% winning record this season. In their most recent game, our Mixed team faced a strong Moss Bury side, who we had only narrowly overcome in our first meeting of the season. With both defences putting shooters under a lot of pressure, it was vital for Sara (GA) and Victoria (GS) to make the most of their opportunities - which they did brilliantly, opening up a half-time lead which the team held onto (and extended) in the second-half, thanks to some excellent interceptions from Brandon, Gracie and Cristiano.

  • December
At the start of December our mixed team (with Cristiano, Bradley and Brandon joining 4 of the girls) played their first ever game, and after a scare at the start which saw them two goals down to Moss Bury after the first couple of minutes, they found their stride and ran away with the match to win 13-2.

  • November
Our Year 5/6 Netball team has had a stellar start to the season. In their first game, the Girls side recorded an impressive win over Lodge Farm, with shooters Sara and Victoria showing impressive accuracy in the D and Millie and Emmie showing great court awareness to find space and get our shooters the ball at every opportunity. In their second game, the Girls travelled to The Leys and again put in a dominant performance, with Gracie, Joy and Demi proving incredibly hard to break down in defence and ensuring that the ball stayed in the attacking third for the majority of the game.

  • May
We rounded-off the season with a fantastic afternoon at the Stevenage Netball Festival, held at Marriotts School and featuring over 20 teams from across the district. A great start to the event saw us win 2 of our first 3 matches, building our confidence and encouraging us to play with ever more positivity. A narrow loss against The Leys and a wider loss against a very strong St Vincents team saw us finish 3rd in our group and qualify for the 5th/6th playoff, where we overcame Woolenwick 1 to finish in 5th place overall.
